Mundo Sano participates in the 2nd Regional Symposium on Cooperation in Tele-Epidemiology, organized by the National Commission on Space Activities (Spanish acronym: CONAE).
The symposium took place in the city of Puerto Iguazú during the month of October, 16th and 17th. Major participants included the National Commission on Space Activities (CONAE), the National Ministry of Health, the Centre Nacional des Etudes Spatiales (CNES) of France, the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare of Paraguay, the National Program for Climate Change of Bolivia, and Mundo Sano Foundation.
Felix Menicocci, Secretary General of CONAE, was in charge of the opening ceremony, and was followed by Marcelo Scavuzzo who discussed regional activities in the field of epidemiology. Biologist Camilo Rotela also presented a technical report of the region.
From France (CNES), Murielle Lafaye and Jean Pierre Lacaux tackled several aspects of tele-epidemiology in their country, while Graciela Russomando and James Aparicio, the former from Paraguay and the latter from Bolivia, described the different activities that are taking place in their countries. The closing session was in charge of Daniel Salomón, who addressed the urgent need for stronger regional cooperation.
During the second day of the symposium the participants discussed several issues regarding the Regional Project of Tele-Epidemiology, including its aims, actions, and reaching.
