On September 3rd and 4th, Mundo Sano held the XII International Symposium on Epidemiology Control of Vector-Borne Diseases in Buenos Aires, in which national and international distinguished experts made their presentations on Dengue disease, Chagas disease and other unattended diseases.

Under the auspices of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion, for the last 12 years, this event has been annually convening hundreds of attendees, scientists, professionals and technicians from different countries, forming an outstanding scenario to discuss the challenges posed by diseases, which are currently more present than ever in our region.

The meeting took place in Salón Auditorio at Madero Tango. The opening ceremony was in charge of Dr. Silvia Gold, president of Mundo Sano, and it was graced with the presence of the Minister of Health of Argentina, Dr. Juan Manzur.

Thirty speakers coming from well-known health academic institutions, as well as remarkable representatives from the public sector, governmental organizations, and social organizations met at this scientific event which convenes the main specialists on unattended diseases.

Among other topics, the situation of Dengue disease in the Americas, the search for new drugs for forgotten diseases, the issue of actors in public health and vectors, and the situation of Chagas disease one hundred years after its discovery were all addressed.

On this occasion, there were 56 presentations in the form of posters which were selected to be part of the scientific content of the programme.
