In 2008 Mundo Sano headquarters in Puerto Iguazú will start working on a new research project on malaria.
According to data from the National Ministry of Health of Argentina, 64 new cases of malaria have been reported so far in 2007, and the total number of cases for the country now reaches 200. In recent years, the incidence of malaria - also known as paludism - has been growing not only in Puerto Iguazú, but also in other parts of the region.
Due to this fact, during the last few months Mundo Sano has started to collect, analyze and process information that could be of relevance in the field of malaria and its incidence at a local and regional scale. Similarly, Mundo Sano has also initiated joint actions with some institutions in the neighbor country of Brazil, such as the Centre for Zoonosis Control of the Town of Foz do Iguaçu, and the 9th Health Region of the State of Paraná.
